This grand tour runs top to bottom β from the old-world streets of Hanoi and a cruise through Halong Bay, to the "Halong on land" karsts of Ninh Binh, the coastal charm of Da Nang and Hoi An, and finally the buzz of Ho Chi Minh City with a day out in the Mekong Delta. The gameplan
Private car transfer from Noi Bai airport to your Hanoi hotel with an early check-in. After lunch, visit the Temple of Literature β Vietnam's first university β and the Hoa Lo Prison, used by the French colonists and later known to American POWs as the "Hanoi Hilton". Evening free in the Old Quarter. Overnight in Hanoi.
Drive to Tuan Chau Harbour and board your cruise through the world-heritage karsts. Set-menu seafood lunch on the water, past the Fighting Cock and Incense Burner islets. Visit Sung Sot Cave, kayak or bamboo-boat through Luon Cave, and hike up TiTop Island. Sunset party on the sundeck, then return to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Drive to Ninh Binh and visit Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam, learning the history of the Dinh, Le and Ly dynasties. Enjoy a local buffet lunch, then a boat trip through Tam Coc β the "Halong Bay on land" β past paddy fields, rivers and caves, followed by a cycle around the village. Return to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Fly to Da Nang and transfer to your hotel. Start your Hoi An adventure at Cam Thanh Coconut Village β learn traditional fishing and row a Vietnamese bamboo basket boat through the coconut palm waterways. Enjoy a Hoi An specialty dinner, then a lantern boat ride on the Hoai River where you release flower lanterns, and explore the lantern streets and night market. Overnight in Da Nang.
Ride one of Southeast Asia's longest cable cars up to Ba Na Hills. Walk the world-famous Golden Bridge held by giant stone hands, explore the French Village, Le Jardin D'Amour gardens and Linh Ung Pagoda, watch the carnival show, then take the Lava Train to Fantasy Park's rides before returning to Da Nang. Overnight in Da Nang.
Fly south to Ho Chi Minh City. Explore the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels and their anti-war history, then head to the Mekong Delta: a cruise on the Tien River to Unicorn Island, Southern Vietnamese folk music, honey tea, coconut-candy workshops and a sampan row through the canals. Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.
The whole day is yours for leisure and shopping. Wander the city on foot, grab a taxi to the markets, or relax β the hotel is centrally located and everything is close by. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.
A final morning of leisure, then a private transfer to the airport for your flight home β a camera roll full of the whole of Vietnam. Trip ends.

This grand tour adds the south β Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels and a full day in the Mekong Delta β plus extra free time for shopping. The 6-day trip covers the north and centre only.
No β international and domestic flights (HanoiβDa Nang and Da NangβHo Chi Minh) aren't included, so you're free to book from your nearest city. All private airport transfers and ground travel are covered.
